The Javelin Train left Dover at 6.42am and Folkestone Central at 6.54am this morning and arrived 52 minutes later at London St Pancras.

Damian Collins, Conservative Parliamentary candidate for Folkestone and Hythe, today welcomed the start of the preview service of High Speed Rail from Folkestone to London St Pancras.

“This is fantastic news for the whole area,” said Damian. “The start of this service has been long anticipated and its first run today did not disappoint.

“High Speed rail will not only make it easier for people to get into London, but also has the potential to attract businesses and visitors. It is also important, following the work of the Rail for Folkestone Group that High Speed rail continues to complement a good and frequent service into Charing Cross and Cannon Street.

“Today it must feel like it did when the first train service opened between London and Folkestone. It is as if the railway has been reinvented for the 21st century.”
