Well known names like Rick Wakeman and Lady Antonia Fraser, Richard Madeley and comedienne Jo Brand are lining-up for this year’s Folkestone Book Festival at the Quarterhouse in Tontine Street.

The annual event also features actor Joss Ackland, former politician Giles Brandreth and columnist Libby Purves together with comedian Vic Reeves and the late Alan Clark’s widow, Jane Clark, talking about her biography of her politician husband.

This year there will be a comedy night at the Quarterhouse in Tontine Street featuring Shappi Khorsandi.

Legendary actress Leslie Caron will talking about her life  followed by a screening of her classic 1958 film Gigi.

Roberta Spicer, the Festivals and Programming Manager said: "We aim to provide an entertaining and captivating line-up of events to build on the success of last year’s festival and strengthen our town’s reputation as a significant cultural draw.

"Throughout its life, the festival has been moved from pillar to post with no distinguishable location in the town to call ‘home’. Now, at last, we are delighted to put down roots in as wonderful a space as Quarterhouse.

"Since it opened in March 2009 Quarterhouse has already seen a variety of sensational events and sell-out performances; we hope to continue this trend in November with the Book Festival.

"In addition to a spectacular selection of author talks and appearances, we are pleased to bring you a variety of events from film screenings and quizzes to cultural walks and workshops that will guarantee something for everyone this year.
