Estate Agent fails to mention Dungeness cottage is on Nuclear stations' doorstep

A Romney Marsh estate agent has been slammed over a for sale advert for a "traditional fisherman's cottage" at Dungeness which failed to mention it is on the doorstep of two Nuclear Power Stations.

Prospective buyers have flocked to view the three-bedroom property near to the RSPB bird reserve.

The cottage described as an "exceptional" detached property set in half an acre of private land is on the market for £247,000.

It has a loft room, garage and off-road parking and is located in the picturesque Dungeness National Nature Reserve in Kent.

The agents however have failed to mention that the property is overshadowed by two nuclear power stations.

Photographs of the 1930s house, which is being sold by Geering & Colyer Estate Agents don't show the huge nuclear stations.

Alex Robertson, who arrived to view the property last week told the Sun he was horrified.

He is reported saying: "It was unbelievable. I had seen the property online and thought it looked just right for me and my family, but when I got there I just saw this tiny fisherman's cottage in the shadow of these huge nuclear power stations."

"The photos make out it is an isolated cottage with nothing surrounding it at all,  but that could not be further from the truth.

"These power stations are literally at your front door, there is no escaping them, they are gargantuan.

"I didn't need to look inside the house, one look at the power station and I was on my heels and off." he told the newspaper.

A spokesman for the agents reportedly told the Sun: "The thing is that anywhere on Dungeness is close to the power station.

"Dungeness is a place you either love or you hate and the power station is just part of that.

"Anyone who wants to know the location of any property in relation to it can just go on to Google-earth and see for themselves."

Power station is the least of worries in Dungeness
by Louise Peddle
on Oct 15, 2009

I would think that the power station is the least of worries in Dungeness, I recently ate at the only pub in this so called beauty spot, an experience I would not recommend. This maybe a wondrous area for wildlife but it is nothing more than a barren wasteland overshadowed by the power stations. The only sign of civilisation appeared to be the pub, The Britannia, being part of a chain, I assumed it would be good to eat there. I was sadly mistaken! I would not recommend this area for anything other than birdwatchers and I advise them to take sandwiches!
