Police investigating recent burglaries in Shepway and Dover have made a number of arrests and reclaimed stolen property.

A rocking horse stolen from a house in Harvest Lane, Stelling Minnis was discovered during a search of a house in Canterbury, together with stolen property from two other burglaries.

A 22-year-old woman from Canterbury was arrested and released on bail while officers make further enquiries.

Another search warrant was carried out at a caravan site in Snowdown where stolen property from two burglaries was found.

Police say that burglary offences in South Kent as a whole, which includes, Dover district, Shepway and Ashford, have fallen by almost 16% between April and August this year, compared to the same period in 2008, which amounts to 65 less break-ins.

They warn that a significant number of break-ins could be prevented by residents making sure windows and doors are not left insecure.

If you are concerned about burglary or crime and anti-social behaviour where you live, you can speak to your neighbourhood policing officer. To find out who they are visit the Kent Police website www.kent.police.uk  or phone 01622 690690.
