Headteacher Andrea Chapman, who was at the centre of a row over the slaughter and raffle of the meat from the school sheep, admitted today (14 September) that Marcus, the neutered ram has been slaughtered.

She said in a statement: 'The decision to send the wether lamb for meat, which has the support of the school council and staff, the governing body and the majority of parents, has now been carried out."

Parents leading a campaign to save Marcus had earlier called in solicitors in a last-ditch bid to save him.
