There is no need for a single animal to be killed for human consumption.

There is an easy alternative that involves no distress to any living being, namely vegetarianism - or, if possible, veganism.

If the pupils who voted for the death of the sheep could be made aware of this healthy lifestyle, they might be persuaded to change their minds.

As a more powerful piece of persuasion, the recently released video on the conditions in slaughterhouses in Great Britain produced by Animal Aid in Tonbridge should sway the feelings of anyone who favours a meat diet towards an abhorrence of the whole concept of killing for food.

I am prepared to put my money where my mouth is and make a contribution to the purchase of the sheep so that it can live with other rescued sheep.
