The Sandgate Road area of Folkestone has re-opened following a serious road traffic collision this morning (11 September)

Two cars collided just before 11 am near Dixwell Road and a woman aged in her 80s was trapped and had to be cut free.

She was airlifted to hospital and is currently being treated for serious injuries.

The road was closed for several hours while officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Unit investigated the crash and was finally re-opened just before 3.30 pm.

If anyone witnessed the collision or the moments leading to it they are asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 798538.
