An Oxford biochemistry graduate from Faversham, who is disabled from the neck down has completed an epic journey sailing around Britain.

Hilary Lister, 37, was applauded as she arrived at the finish in Dover harbour yesterday evening (31 August).

The disabled yachtswoman has been hailed "truly inspirational" as she became the first female quadriplegic to sail solo around Britain.

Hilary sailed into the record books after her 40-day series of sails.

Her spokesman, Paul Taroni, praised her determination, saying the trip was an "amazing triumph over adversity".
