A paraglider pilot survived uninjured after crashing into cliffs near the Battle of Britain memorial at Capel le Ferne yesterday (31 August).

The victim was thought to have jumped from the top of a 350 foot cliff into an air current and was flying through thermals with the intention of landing back on the top when he suddenly lost height and crashed into the  the cliff.

A helicopter crew from RAF Wattisham, along with coastguard teams, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the scene.

The pilot escaped the crash unscathed and was reportedly walking and talking on the beach before the helicopter crew winched him to the top where he was examined by paramedics.
