Police investigating a break-in at a house in Stelling Minnis have released photographs of some items that were stolen to see if they have been offered for sale.

The house in Harvest Lane, Stelling Minnis, was broken into at some time between 9.45 am and 12 noon on Friday 21 August.

Items stolen include a 19th Century Mahogony grandfather clock made by John Wyld of Nottingham with a brass/gilded finial on the top, and a 19th century rocking horse with leather saddle. The items have been re-conditioned since the photos were taken and will therefore look in better condition than that shown.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has seen these items for sale, or has any information about the break-in.

This is one of three break-ins in Stelling Minnis and the surrounding area in the last week that police are currently investigating.

Officers are carrying out extra patrols in the area and neighbourhood policing teams will be carrying out house-to-house enquiries and offering advice.

Residents are being advised to make sure they leave their homes and outbuildings locked and secure and to report any suspicious looking people or vehicles, noting the registration number.

Officers are advising villagers to make a note of the serial numbers of valuable items such as televisions, laptops and cameras and to have them security marked.

Det Sgt Steve Chapman said: "Stelling Minnis and the surrounding area has a very low crime level and break-ins of this nature are not common. Indeed, burglary remains low across South Kent."

"I am raising awareness so residents can do all they can to help us with our enquiries and to also review their own security."

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Dave McGuinness on 01303 850055.

If you have information but wish to remain anonymous call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
