Shepway Norman church drills for renewable heat

A Shepway church which dates back to the Normans is spending £270,000 to heat the building by drilling deep into the earth.
 

A rig has begun drilling boreholes at St Stephen's parish church to provide geothermal heating.

Work began on Monday and is expected to be finished in around three weeks.

Four 112m heat extraction boreholes will be drilled and connected to equipment to heat water for an under-floor heating system.
