A Service of Celebration to commemorate Merchant Navy Day is to be held in Dover.

Chairman of Dover District Council, Cllr Bernard Butcher, with the Kent Branch of the Merchant Navy Association, is organising a special service at Dover Town Hall for Merchant Navy Day on Thursday 3 September.

Standard bearers will gather and enter the Town Hall from 11am and a Service of Celebration will begin at 11.05am. This will be followed by an address from the Chairman of the Kent Branch of the Merchant Navy Association and a closing address from the Chairman of Dover District Council.

An official wreath laying service for civic heads, standard bearers, Merchant Navy Association representatives, and other members of the community is also being held at the Merchant Navy War Memorial on Dover seafront prior to the service.

 All are welcome to attend.
