The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is in its second year of running drop-in sessions in partnership with the children’s centres in Hawkinge and across Shepway.

They discovered from running their pilot scheme last year that there was a great need for this service.

The CAB feels that it is important to meet people where they are in their local community and the children’s centres have direct access to all services that Shepway CAB have to offer.

Each client who visits the drop-in sessions will have a short interview to determine the next step that needs to be taken. This will be followed up with further advice and casework if necessary. This service is open to all members of the community.

The CAB is a registered charity and has a large number of highly trained paid staff and volunteers who help resolve over 5.5 million problems nationally every year. The advisers help provide confidential and impartial advice to everyone on their rights and responsibilities.

The CAB’s aims are to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and to improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. The CAB value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination. They can help with debt, benefits, housing, employment issues, consumer issues, immigration and family matters to name just a few.
