Two popular local bands are off to France this weekend (July 11, 12) to help promote Shepway in the Boulonnais region.

Hundreds of people visited the DFH&RM information stand and stage performances by The Rattlaz and The Dealers attracted big and enthusiastic audiences.

Said DFH&RM manager Chris Kirkham: "The festival annually draws thousands of visitors from across northern France and many come across the border from Belgium, too.

"We were invited to take part in this year's event by the Boulogne authorities and the Boulogne Shepway and Canterbury Co-operation Organisation in recognition of our ongoing work to develop two-way across-Channel tourism.

"The number of visitors to our stand indicated plenty of interest in finding out about short break and leisure opportunities just a Channel hop away.

"The groups made several appearances during the weekend and earned rapturous applause. Their popular musical styles undoubtedly helped Folkestone make a splash".
