Saucy gulls swoop on Shepway snackers

Greedy gulls in Folkestone have become hooked on tomato ketchup and no one is safe from their saucy antics.

The dive-bombing birds are swooping on hungry holidaymakers to get a taste of the traditional ketchup.

Staff from local eateries noticed the birds had gone off chips and were now more bothered about what goes on them.

Giovanni Ioannou, of the town’s Le Cafe Ganmac, told the Daily Star: “If you don’t clear the tables quickly, they hop up and eat as much ketchup as they can.

“A gull got inside the café once. It knocked plates and cups off our tables and smashed them.

“They behave like thugs and it’s scaring customers off. It’s like something from a horror movie sometimes. They love the ketchup.”
