Thanks for being so on-the-ball with this situation. We need honest, clear and timely information to keep tabs on this application.

Why another supermarket??
by Stephen C

Why would Hawkinge need another supermarket?? - Edinburgh Land Estates have not even yet found a tenant for the building.

We have 2 supermarkets Lidl and Tesco express, plus less than 5 minutes drive away we have 5 supermarkets operated by 4 major chains, Sainsburys have 2 sites, Asda, Tesco's, Morrisons. Most people who live in the village will have a car and can access these chains, those that don’t would likely have the internet and could have shopping delivered from one of the chains, and those that do not are in such I minority why are we catering for them?? Seems that the minority have managed up to now. I am a construction director and have worked on many supermarket and shopping centre developments, all made sense - this certainly does not make sense.
