Frenchman to 'fly' over Channel with his bald eagle

A Frenchman will try to become the first man to paraglide across the Channel later this month, and a bald eagle he taught to fly will soar beside him.

Falconer Jacques-Olivier Travers (37) will be dropped from a helicopter 13,000 ft above Dover along with Sherkan, his 15-year-old eagle.

Both will use wing power alone to reach Coquelles, on the northern coast of France.

Last year the paraglider flew from the top of Mount Blanc with his eagle which was taught to fly right by his side.
