Colin Tearle who is currently a director of the charity will take up the position once contracts have been finalised.

Under the constitution of the charity, Mr Tearle will step down as a director when he takes up his appointment.

At the recent AGM a number of members and the Chairman, Tony Hutt had praised Mr Tearle for his hard work and dedication in the way he had steered the ailing community centre into an expanding business.

Colin Tearle was a former Shepway District Councillor and is currently a member of Hawkinge Parish Council and Chairman of Swingfield Parish Council.

The directors have issued the following statement on the appointment.

"The Directors of The Hawkinge Community Centre have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of Mr Colin Tearle as the Chief Executive of the Centre.

This appointment is subject to contract which we hope to complete within the next few weeks.

Many of you will realise the hard work that Colin has put in over the past twelve months and we hope that you will continue to support him."
