Folkestone and Hythe MP Michael Howard paid an early visit to the Guildhall pub in Folkestone as part of the licensed trade's Proud of Pubs Week.

It began a day early for some MPs who are busy next week and are unable to find time in their schedules to meet with publicans.

MPs across the country will be meeting licensees during the Proud of Pubs Week, which formally kicks off tomorrow (11 July), to find out more about the positive story about pubs.

Gilly Gresswell, licensee of the Guildhall, said Michael Howard had taken a real interest in the business.

"We are hoping to buy the pub from Punch Taverns, and we had a good chat about the industry," she said.
