Around 10,000 people are expected at Walmer Green in Deal on Sunday (12 July) for a memorial concert to remember the bandsmen who died when the IRA bombed the town's barracks on September 22, 1989.

Ten men died instantly and another died almost a month later from his injuries after a 15lb bomb was detonated in the recreational centre changing room at the barracks' School of Music.

Every year Royal Marines from the School of Music, now based in Portsmouth perform at the town's Memorial Bandstand in remembrance of the fallen musicians and to thank the community for its support.

Sunday's concert will see by two Royal Marines bands  from Portsmouth and Collingwood perform. During the interval there will be a march past the site of the bombing, where a minute's silence will be observed.
