Billed as a feast of family fun, the Folkestone Multi-Cultural Festival will bring the town four days of exciting sounds, experiences and colour.

Running between 11 and 14 June, the festival features stage shows and street theatre by musicians, singers, dancers and entertainers from many countries as well as local performers, a programme of more than fifty events - mostly free - will celebrate the diversity of customs, cultures and cuisines which contribute to the life and times of the district of Shepway.

The programme also includes audience participation events, children's activities, demonstrations of crafts, produce and artists' markets, a football tournament and food samplings.

Opening on Thursday. June 11, with two events at the Leas Cliff Hall - activity workshops for 500 schoolchildren from 9.30am to 3pm and an Old Time Music Hall at 7pm - the festival moves on Friday to town centre venues, including Sandgate Road (the precinct outside Debenhams), Bouverie Place Shopping Centre, Guildhall Street and Rendezvous Street, on subsequent days when events start at 10am.

Souvenir programmes are available free from shops, council offices, public libraries, tourist information points and various other outlets.
