When councillors Susan Carey and David Owen were elected chairman and vice chairman of Shepway District Council on 13 May 2009, they decided to keep a record of their work on a blog.

Their aim is for people to see what's involved and make comments or suggestions.

Blogs are a popular way of communicating and councils are increasingly introducing them. This is Shepway's first blog and so far it covers the chairman's first month of office.

'I attend many events as the representative of people in Shepway and the blog is a way of sharing them. I hope people will find it interesting and informative,” said Cllr Carey.
