Heart op Peter begins training for next Channel swim

Summer must be here! Shepway's American cousin, Peter Jurzynski is back in training for yet another Channel crossing.

Since Friday (12 June) he has completed four training sessions off  Folkestone and on Sunday he had a three hour swim.

"I am very pleased to be back training in the Channel, nearly 13 months after my open heart bypass surgery. It appears all is fine as I prepare for my 2009 swim to France.

"One obvious difference though is I am eating a heart healthy low fat diet and my weight is down, which is great. However a 'skinnier swimmer' needs a bit more acclimation to cool water, yet I seem to be doing well," he said.
