After a considerable number of delays, allotment society members are now able to go onto the site to clear and remove the rubbish.

Once this has been done, the contractor can start work preparing the land off Fernfield Lane for cultivation.

Eileen Blythe from the society is encouraging as many members as possible to come along on Tuesday (2 June) at 9.45am.

She said: "This will be our first working party. Please wear strong shoes, bring gloves, bow saws, small pruning saws, and two bin bags each.

"Also bring drinks and sandwiches, we will finish at 12 30pm.

"Just turn up, walk, bike, or please park in Fernfield Lane, or Cowgate Lane, or catch the bus to Fernfield Lane."
