The 47-year old, who plays Nurse Stern in the movie, travelled to Whitstable to watch the Wilko Johnson gig at the Horserbridge Centre.

Iconic former Dr Feelgood guitarist Wilko joined the Blockheads in the early eighties, and now tours with original Blockheads bass player Norman Watt-Roy.

When the duo heard about Karol's part in the up-coming movie, they invited her backstage after the show.

Karol said, "We had a lovely long chat about Ian, the Blockheads and the up-coming movie. Norman had recently finished recording the soundtrack with Andy Serkis, who plays Dury in the film, so we had lots to talk about - especially how much Andy looks and sounds like Ian.

"The gig itself was brilliant - very tasty old style Rhythm and Blues, with the odd Rock and Reggae number added for good measure. Norman throws himself into his bass playing, working up a real sweat, and Wilko has fun playing up to the crowd, what an entertainer! The audience had a great time."

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll is due to be released on 26 March 2010 - the 10th anniversary of Ian Dury's death, and co-incidentally Karol's 48th birthday.
