Is Folkestone West controlled parking just another 'stealth' tax?

Dear Editor,

I read with interest your article about the controlled parking proposals for the residents living near to the Folkestone West railway station.

 

Surely this is just another in the long list of 'stealth' taxes.

In this case I believe Shepway District Council is trying to initiate more revenue to support its ailing financial position, as it is unable to do this through the community charge because of Government rate capping.
