Salvage experts have succeeded in refloating the brand new 67 metre vessel, Goliath from a Dover beach.

The crane barge, on its maiden voyage, was being towed from Belgium to Ireland for delivery when it grounded off Deal.

The vessel is used to clear silt from shallow channels.

None of the fuel oil tanks spilt and coastguards said that following a fly-over of the area there were no sightings of pollution.

Goliath has now been refloated but after an inspection of the hull it was decided to return to Belgium.
