Twenty-five youngsters from Dover, Deal and Folkestone won their places on the week-long workshop after a gruelling audition process, and will now be working with West End Musical Director Andrew Freisner, and professional fight choreographers Orlando Brooke and Nicholas John from Swordplay.

The workshops will culminate in a free performance for the public in Dover Town Hall on Thursday 9 April at 7.30pm.

Among the musicals to be featured in the show are Westside Story, South Pacific, Finian's Rainbow, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sweet Charity and Billy Liar.

On hand to watch the youngsters prepare for the show and take part in the workshops were Dover Mayor, Cllr Diane Smallwood and Christopher Lawson from The London Fancy Box Company.

Dover Town Council has sponsored the Dover Youth theatre to the tune of £3718-51, while The London Fancy Box Company has donated £200. Other sponsors are Pharos Insurance, Bradley Solicitors and Kent County Council.
