A Dover Independent school whose past pupils have included the principal choreographer and director of the Royal Ballet, Sir Frederick Ashton and TV personality Simon Cowell has, despite the recession seen enquiries for independent education rise dramatically.
 

Dover College has seen enquiries in the first three months of 2009 increase by 64% over the same period in 2009.

And at their Open Morning in March 2009 a record number of families visited the College.

Research by Ipsos MORI in June 2008 found that 66% of all parents who said they would send their child to an independent school would do it because of better standards, followed by discipline and class sizes.

A senior school parent commented: “For me it’s a return to traditional family values and a good moral framework. You see so many children without social skills these days - I think that someone who is polite and confident will have much better chances in life”.

Dover College is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged 3 to 18. It was founded in 1871 and has served both local pupils from Folkestone, Dover and Deal as well as a boarders.
