School breakfast winners receive cash prizes from top chef

Pupils at a local school have won the 2009 ‘Think Food and Farming Breakfast Challenge’ sponsored by the South East Food Group Partnership (SEFG).


The pupils from Elham Primary School, near Folkestone, they will receive their cash prizes to spend on cookery equipment on Thursday (23 April).

Year 6 pupils designed a healthy breakfast menu, creating their own recipes which had to be made from local produce. The project was to get students thinking about healthy eating whilst discovering and using the best of local produce.

The prize for the students who designed the best breakfast recipes, sponsored by the SEFG is a masterclass with 2006 Masterchef winner, Peter Bayless, £250 to purchase the ingredients and £100 of vouchers for the school to purchase cookery equipment.

The masterclass takes place at the school on Thursday April 23rd from 1.00pm – 3.00pm.
