American Channel swimming record holder Peter Jurzynski has been given medical clearance from his doctor to make another crossing this year.

Determined 57-year-old Peter underwent coronary bypass surgery last May yet he managed to visit Folkestone last August and again at Christmastime to train at the Folkestone Sports Centre.

He said: "Although I have done a consistent amount of pool training in the US, Folkestone and even in Calais, in the spring I will need to get gradually adjusted to the cool sea. Now with my thinner body it will be a real joy, and ideally I will be faster and not colder."

Peter thanks his excellent medical team in the USA as well as the nurses at Royal Victoria Hospital Walk-In Centre in Folkestone and the staff at Superdrug store in Folkestone.

Peter is hoping to make his 19th attempt and his 15th successful crossing this summer.
