Warning over doorstep callers claiming to be from telephone providers

Trading Standards have had reports of calls to home owners in the Folkestone area supposedly from telephone providers report Neighbourhood Watch.

The callers introduce themselves and try to gain entry to the homeowners property.

They then visit and say they have come to check the broadband when in fact the homeowners did not have broadband.

Both callers were in their 20's, one male and one female. The female was about 5'3" with dark curly hair and was white. The male was black, about 6' tall, smart and with dark curly hair.

Trading Standards urge homeowners not to agree to anything on the doorstep and always to ask to see the identity card of any caller.

Do not let unknown callers into your home and always remember to open the door with the chain in place.

If you are in any doubt, ring Consumer Direct for advice on 08454 04 05 06.
