An indoor tennis centre which was destroyed by gales in 2007 is to be replaced.

Dover District Council’s Cabinet has approved the development of a project for a new four court centre.

The scheme would include a permanent building alongside the Tides Leisure Pool in Deal.

Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access and Property Management, said: “We are fully committed to supporting communities and investing in the future of Deal and the district.

"This new tennis centre would help us to increase participation levels in sport, and provide a permanent facility for those seeking to achieve excellence in this sport, as well as supporting our transformational regeneration agenda for the district.”
