The Inter-primary schools’ cross country event took place Monday 9 March at Dover College’s Farthingloe Grounds.

Event organiser Heather Miller said: “This year’s spring like weather was welcomed by all: runners, teachers and spectators. With 17 schools participating (around 540 children), each of the four races featured well over 100 runners.

"Seeing children aged 7 to 11 from the local community competing with such enthusiasm proves that this event can be entered even if the schools don‘t have sporting facilities. Using school playgrounds for training has made this event a fast becoming tradition for many schools. Many have indeed taken part since it first started in 2002.

"Although this year a number of local schools were unable to attend due to LEA development days taking place at the same time the field was extended enabling Anthony Roper Primary to join us all the way from Eynsford near Dartford.”
