Firefighters rescued one man trapped in rubble after a ground floor collapsed into a basement in Dover.

The three-storey property in Clarendon Place, was being renovated.

A second man injured at the time was rescued from the building before the rescue services arrived.

Two crews from Folkestone and two from Dover, rushed to the scene after receiving a call at midday on Friday (20 February).

Firefighters helped shore up the building before the rescue.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 12.14pm to Clarendon Place, Dover, to initial reports that a wall had collapsed.

"We treated two male patients in the cellar of the building. Both were taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford.

"One had minor injuries and the other had a suspected fractured leg."
