A two-year-old girl has died after falling into the sea at Folkestone, Kent Police have confirmed.

Two children were pulled from the water after an accident involving a child's push chair which tumbled into the water.

The toddler and an eight-month-old boy were rescued by a member of the public just before 3.00pm this afternoon (15 February) at the Warren Apron.

People walking nearby called the emergency services and helped them out of the water before an air ambulance flew the unconscious two-year-old to hospital for emergency treatment.

A member of Dover's volunteer lifeboat crew Jon Miell, who was walking his dog in the area at the time rushed to the water's edge to give first aid.

He administered heart massage to the young girl until the air ambulance arrived .

A Kent Police spokeswoman said the girl was airlifted to a London hospital.

The baby was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, along with two adults.
