Early morning snow caused long delays for traffic in Hawkinge, Folkestone and Dover (21 December).

Whitfield Hill in Dover was closed and Spitfire Way and Canterbury Road from Mill Road in Hawkinge and Folkestone was brought to a standstill.

The snowfall meant Police were directing vehicles away from Spitfire Way  towards Canterbury and a number of minor accidents at the roundabout for the A20 added to the motorists' misery.

Channel crossings have restarted but passengers and being urged to bring food, water and warm clothing in event of further problems. Non-port drivers advised to stay off the roads around Dover and Folkestone.
