The weather, road closures and suspension of ferry services brought traffic chaos to Dover yesterday (19 December).

The town became gridlocked as traffic ground to a halt on all major roads into the town.

One driver on his way to the docks to catch a ferry to get home to Switzerland for the holidays said it had taken 5 hours to get to Dover from London, and another hour just to travel the length of Bridge Street into Maison Dieu Road.

One driver of a car with German registration plates, on their way to the port became so frustrated with the wait along Maison Dieu Road, that the car was driven onto the pavement, endangering the lives of several pedestrians.
