Demelza Hospice Care for Children is releasing the second of a series of hardhitting advertising campaigns to appeal for support over Christmas.

Under the headline “Give a child what they really need this Christmas” the advert highlights the sad statistic that every nine days over the festive season a child in the area will die.

Demelza cannot stop this from happening but are able to work with the families to help them say goodbye, provide support, care and counselling.

Following on from the first ad which ran in October “Some Goodbyes are Harder than Others” it aims to reach out to families which do not know about Demelza and could benefit from the charity’s support.

Demelza, which has been running services for 11 years, works with over 600 families in Kent, South London and Sussex but there are over 1,000 more families we could help.

The ads will be running in local and regional newspapers as well as on billboards around the area.

Ted Gladdish, CEO of Demelza, said: “We are once again appealing for your support, this time over the festive season.

“Without your support we cannot carry on our work with the families that need us, particularly when their child is nearing the end of their life.

“Please think of those families who are not able to celebrate this time of year as their child is very sick or they are grieving over a loss. Please donate to Demelza to help us help them.”
