Thieves using a mechanical digger have escaped with a cash machine from a Shepway bank.

The Cashpoint at a branch of Lloyds TSB in Lydd was stolen in the early hours of the morning (6 November).

Police believe the safe was loaded into one of two light-coloured 4x4 vehicles, at about 3.30am.

One vehicle was described as a four wheel drive pick-up, and the other as a Land Rover Land Cruiser

The High Street in Lydd has been closed while officers carry out their investigations.
