Members of the Swingfield Twinning Association made the long trip to Aviron in Normandy to lay a wreath at the French village's war memorial.

The Association members and their French counterparts take it in turns to attend the ceremonies in France and England.

In France the services always take place on November 11th the actual anniversary of Armistice Day.

The English friends travelled out on Tuesday, returning 48 hours later.

Also attending this year, to represent the local Nepalese community were two Gurkha Veterans, Iganesh Pun and Tul Thapa.

The names of service personnel from Swingfield and from Aviron who had perished in First and Second World Wars were read out at the ceremony and wreaths and flowers were laid.

Local primary school children then sang the French National Anthem.
