Foreign criminals set free from immigration removal centre in Dover

Foreign prisoners convicted of crimes in the UK were freed from an immigration removal centre in Dover during July 2009 according to Home Office figures.

This was despite a Government pledge to "automatically" deport them.

Shadow immigration minister and MP for Ashford, Damian Green said: "It is a joke. The effect is to make the streets of Kent less safe and shows Gordon Brown's promise of deportation was just spin."
