Dickensian characters strolled through the town as Dover celebrated their fourth annual Dickens' Festival on Saturday (3 October).

Organised by the Dover Carnival Association (DCA) it included a day-long Dickensian Fayre in the Market Square, performances of classic Dickens' tales by The Dover Youth Theatre, and a parade through the town.

Taking part in the parade were the Dover Carnival Association Court, visiting courts from Sandwich and Hornsey in North London, and the Invicta-Kent Court.

The parade from the Market Square to the Town Hall included walkers in Dickensian costumes, well known local actress Karol Steele, who came dressed as Peggotty from David Copperfield, and the Dover ATC band.

The successful day was rounded off with a dance at the Kings Hall in London Road for everyone who took part in the day's events, and included a final performance from the Dover Youth Theatre.
