500 fish found dead in Shepway lake

An investigation is underway after around 500 fish were found dead in a 55-acre lake at Palmarsh Fishery in Hythe.

Environment Agency workers used aeration equipment to boost oxygen levels to save the remaining fish.

The agency said the most likely cause of the deaths was a natural phenomenon rather than pollution.

Experts have taken samples of the water for analysis to establish the cause of the deaths.
