With heavy snow already reported across the Alps, keen skiers and snowboarders are starting to think about packing up and heading south for their winter break.

Ferry crossings this winter start at £25 each way for a car and up to nine passengers using the Dover-Calais service.

P&O Ferries' website also has a direct link to Pierre-Vacances holidays, which is offering discounts of up to a third off self-catering apartments in many popular ski resorts for French ski holidays booked before 31 October.
