£¾million football pavilion plans delayed

A planning application for a £¾million football pavilion in Hawkinge has been called in by a Shepway Councillor.

North Downs East Cllr Stuart Peall has told the Gazette: "I have called in the Football Club new Pavilion application to the Development Control Committee of Shepway District Council, to look at issues such as parking and noise."

Although the proposed building is sited close to the Hawkinge Cricket Club in Cricketers Close, it is understood that access to the complex would be from Incinerator Road and not Cricketers Close.

At the July meeting of Hawkinge Parish council, when the planning application was unanimously approved, Council Chairman David Callahan described it as "a very exciting project" and a happy Cllr Tony Hutt admitted: "We can't get a better deal than this."
