The high-speed Javelin service was halted for three hours on Monday morning (28 September) after thieves cut signalling wire from the track near Dover.

Around 15 metres of high voltage cable carrying 33,000 volts was cut, plunging the new service into chaos.

Buses were brought in while British Transport Police and Network Rail carried out an investigation.

Other early morning commuter services were also affected.
