Prince Charles came to Folkestone yesterday (28 January) to meet families of Nepalese Gurkha soldiers whose relatives are away fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The Prince visited the families of 2nd Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles, at Sir John Moore Barracks at Shorncliffe, Folkestone.

Around 650 Gurkha soldiers are currently deployed on operations.

The battalion lost two members during fighting in Afghanistan last November.

Rifleman Yubraj Rai, 28, was killed on November 4, while his comrade Colour Sergeant Krishnabahadur Dura, 36, died on November 15.
