Wild animal Safari lodge to open near Hythe

A new overnight safari lodge is opening, not in Kenya but in Kent.

Livingstone Lodge will operate on a 100-acre site next to Port Lympne Wild Animal Park near Hythe from April.

The lodge overlooks a water hole and visitors will be able to see more than 500 animals roaming free, including black rhino, wildebeest and giraffe.

The stay includes an evening meal, overnight accommodation and a 90-minute safari as well as a tour of the main Port Lympne park.

"This is Europe's only overnight safari lodge and has to be the answer to those suffering the credit crunch who would love to visit the wilds of Africa on safari but realistically know that a holiday at home is far more sensible," said a spokeswoman for the park.
