Shepway Council has now received the additional information that will help it determine the expansion plans for London Ashford (Lydd) Airport.

Airport owners had been asked to provide more information about ecology, noise, air quality, traffic, lighting and landscaping issues.

The additional information also includes revisions to the design of the terminal building in response to concerns by the council and the government's Commission for the Built Environment

This information must now go out to organisations like Natural England, the Environment Agency and Kent County Council for their comments. The additional information can be viewed at the council offices in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone and will shortly be available on the council's website.

All comments received so far about the plans are still valid and will be considered when the council meets to determine the application - although the public can still comment on the supplementary information.

The council said it was too early to say when the applications would be considered. It could take six weeks or longer for all the agencies to respond to the additional information and then the council will have to look at the responses before preparing its reports for the council meeting.

The original applications for a runway extension and a new terminal building were due to be determined by a meeting of the full council in January. But the meeting was postponed after the council took legal advice and asked for additional information to ensure it was it a position to give councillors everything they need to make an informed decision.
